Bob has been writing poetry for over 40 years. His poems might be described as "spiritual", for want of a better word; they speak of the search for meaning in a secular world, of the border between the profane and the sacred. His most recent publications include the following: Bindweed Magazine, Down In The Dirt, Pennsylvania Literary Journal, Convergence: An Online Journal Of Poetry And Art, and Poets' Espresso Review.

|
Matthew Fishler has followed a range of trails in his life. After earning degrees in philosophy and law, he worked for several years as a lawyer. A stint as a creative writer for an Internet company in the late 1990s offered a welcome reprieve from legal work. Over the course of many years, Matthew also traveled extensively in Asia, writing poetry and keeping extensive journals. In the last decade or so, he has been engaged in a sustained effort to find a home in language for elusive psychological experience. This work formed the basis of his doctoral dissertation in clinical depth psychology, The Evocative Moment: A Study in Depth Psychological Poetics. This work also produced a number of poems that have been published in a variety of poetry journals. Matthew now works as a depth psychologist, writes poetry, and teaches at Pacifica Graduate Institute in Carpinteria, California.

I graduated from Harvard, twice! Seriously, I have no academic accomplishments, just a desire to share my devastating secret that happened sixty five years ago, now that I can! It has taken a long time to process, but with the help of a wonderful therapist, I understand that I’ve been carrying my rapist’s shame for all of these years. It was never mine to bear!

I have the unique distinction of having held three poet laureate positions simultaneously. I was one of the winners of the Amy Kitchener’s Angels Without Wings Content and awarded the title of Senior Poet Laureate of Washington State. (2012) Auburn Morning Toastmasters appointed me Poet Laureate of the club. (2010 – 2014) When the city of Pacific celebrated our 100th anniversary the Mayor selected me for Poet Laurate. (2009 – 2018)
I like dancing with words and find I can get all tangled up just as well without the help of Lawrence Welk.
